Geeky

black rim glasses

geeky side

Guess if my glasses are for just the look of it or because I really need them?

Think about Clark Kent and Peter Parker – these are two instances when the geeky look is subtly hot as can be.  Other than their costumes when they turn into their superhero alteregos, there really is not much difference in their normal persona except maybe their black-rimmed eyeglasses.  These eyeglasses are making the fashion runways this season, amped up with modern touches like solid color blocking and intricate detailing at the temples and earpieces.  Various designer brands have come out with their versions of the old fashioned black rimmed glasses with a few design tweaks here and there.

When it comes to eyewear for fashion, you have to make sure that you do not simply go with the trend.  You have to make sure that the frame that you choose fits you well.  The good thing about these black rimmed glasses is that you do not really have to worry about the color matching your skin tone or the color of your eyes.  What you would have to pay attention to is the shape of the frames.  Some eyeglass retailers online have tools to help you check if your chosen frame will fit the shape of your face or not.

Floral Summer Dress

floral

I can feel that summer is fast going by…but I still wouldn’t want to say goodbye. Summer is best expressed with floral patterns I believe. Keeps the feeling of being fresh, soaked under the sun.

Summer is the season to celebrate with florals.  You cannot possibly imagine this season without images of all sorts of blooms popping into your mind.  Dress for the season by choosing clothes and fashion pieces with floral patterns.  These patterns show up in a number of clothes and accessories including dresses, tee-shirts, swimsuits, hats and parasols, bags and purses, and even hair clips.  These summer days, I just cannot help but give my wardrobe a burst of color with floral patterns.

In choosing your floral patterned summer wear, you have to make sure that you do not go overboard – it is not fashionable to be covered in flowers and floral patterns from head-to-toe.  If you choose to wear a brightly colored top with huge flower prints, you do not necessarily have to have floral patterns in your bottom as well.  You can go as simple as wearing a tee with one big sunflower printed on front and pair it with denim shorts.  Or you can choose a flowing sundress in a pastel hue dotted with white forget-me-nots.  At the beach, you can wear a maillot with a floral accent on the waistband and have a similar floral accent on your hat.  Whatever floral patterned fashion piece you choose, always make sure that you are appropriately dressed for any occasion.

Pampering Myself

My nails actually. There is something comforting when your nails get clean and painted, like I would often do when I have the time, but having it done in a salon is a far different experience.

I got some time off yesterday to enjoy some me-time. I headed out to have these cute nail designs. What do you think?

bikini beach

going poetic

I love out-of-the-way, rugged places. For me, holidays are about the experiences, and the people, and the memories, rather than sitting on a nice beach getting tanned. I try to plant myself where I am and embrace what is there in front of me. - Evelyn Glennie

The beach, it’s some place you will always love going back to.

Yukata

wearing yukata, japanese

pink and dark blue

Summer is not the same without yukata and fireworks in Japan.  This is my take on Yukata, navy blue and pink flower prints.  Unlike the traditional kimono, the yukata is less formal.  The look is similar, though, since both the kimono and the yukata have wide sleeves and straight seams.  Aside from the obi, the entire outfit is completed by the geta (sandals), kinchaku (carry bag), and a hand fan.

This Japanese ensemble was originally used as after-bath wear, but has since evolved into summertime fashion.  Both men and women can be seen on the streets and even venues during summer festivals and fireworks shows – one of the three most popular fireworks show in Japan, the Tsuchiura National Fireworks Competition, is scheduled on the first day of October.  Yukata for people of all ages and genders are characterized by specific colors and prints.  It is common for older people to go for more muted and neutral tones and designs in their yukata.  For younger women and children, the design components are much more exciting.

strapless dress

Who wouldn’t love summer?

There is no season more perfect for skin baring clothes than summer.  I would just love to go strapless for summer.  Of course, it takes some work to get those shoulders and arms toned and ready to be shown off.  There are exercises that specifically target the shoulder muscles, the upper back muscles, and the biceps and triceps area – I should ask my gym trainer to give me a hand with these exercises.  In the meantime, there is no stopping me from shopping around and picking some strapless blouses and dresses to wear to the evening cocktails, the beach outings, and the pool parties that are in my summer calendar.

Strapless dresses and blouses are versatile pieces of clothing that can take you from balmy afternoons to breezy evenings.  You can take a shrug or a shawl with you to cover up your shoulders when it gets a bit nippy.  Choose these dresses in the right fabrics to fit various occasions.  Lightweight fabric is recommended for the summer months – a strapless chiffon mini dress cinched just below the bust line in an A-line cut is a great choice whether for the beach or for the country club.

My Many Faces

Welcome to my Blog!

My name is Anna, a mom of two. There are many things I enjoy…fashion and makeup are two of those. This is an attempt to somehow document that side of me. My many faces, attire, what I do about everyday…perhaps. You’d probably see my loving angels I call “Bears” some time too.
